Toby Allen

MEng CEng MICE

After 20 years of experience at a number of high-profile practices Toby joined Plan B to establish a fresh approach within the profession built on common trust and respect.

Toby’s inclusion as a founding Partner of Plan B extends and strengthens the collective team to which he brings experience in Timber, High-rise and Prefabrication.

A natural pioneer Toby has always endeavoured to challenge the status quo and pursue excellence. His past work developing designs for the largest timber grid shell, the longest opening bridge and the tallest timber tower in the world, gives credibility to his passion for applying cutting edge structural design and innovation.

Edney Ndumbe

MEng MSc CEng MIStructE CARE Accredited

With over 33 years of consulting experience Edney has extensive knowledge and experience of modern as well as historic buildings. Edney is passionate about good engineering design and actively promotes this as well as diversity in engineering.

A CARE accredited Engineer, Edney has been involved in the repair and conservation of various important historic buildings and landscapes including the restoration of the Tudor Courtyard at Fulham Palace and the restoration of Paxton's Grade I Listed London Road Cemetery, Coventry.

David Sivyer

BEng (Hons) CEng MIStructE

Following a successful 25 years in engineering consultancy, in which he held directorial positions in some of the most high-profile engineering practices in the UK, David decided to use his extensive knowledge and experience to co-found a new type of engineering practice, based upon the principles of engineering in a better way.

Throughout his career David has led, and delivered, a variety of prominent projects, ranging from a special forces base, to the £1bn Old War Office redevelopment in Whitehall.

David has a history of delivering projects to an exceptional standard, many of which have been recognised by the ACE, with 7-10 Old Bailey and Oxford University Earth Sciences project, both winning Engineering Excellence Awards.

Matthew Bolton

MEng (Hons) CEng MIStructE

Following twenty years’ consulting experience, Matthew co-founded Plan B engineers. His strategic vision and ethos about the industry drove him to partner with like minded people, to fulfil the principles of engineering in a better way.

Matthew is a strong advocate of education, mentorships, and opportunities for all. He remains engaged with, and has led, various education and industry experience outreach programmes, including structural tutorials at university civil and structural engineering departments, and at Oxford Brookes’ School of Architecture.

Chris Randall

BEng (Hons) TIStructE

Chris joined Plan B following 12 years at Elliott Wood. He began as a Trainee Technician, reaching Associate level in 2015, earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree and technician status within the IStructE along the way.

Chris has pioneered the use of Revit within the industry working on a large variety of projects ranging from small scale developments, where Chris acted as both Engineer and Technician, to managing teams of Technicians on large developments such as the £1billion Old War Offce development in Whitehall.

Chris also has experience as a BIM Coordinator on many varied, challenging and successful projects including the refurbishment of Lords Cricket Media Centre.
